The new TOEFL test, introduced on January 21, 2026, is designed to reliably assess the level of academic English required for university study, research, and work in an international environment. Each skill has four or five proficiency levels, so where your score falls within that range tells you your proficiency for that skill.

Each section has a score range of 0-30. These are added together for a total score of 0-120.
